Choices

The first digital media project focused on exploring identity as prompted by resonance from teaching stories and as applied across two levels: archetypal and local.  Here are a few of the fine projects made in Good Stories:

Digital Media Project 2 moves ahead by opening up spacein the amplification of images.  We do this by engaging dramatic variety in the storied archetypes of beauty, guidance, power, destiny. . .  We study the way transformation, adaptation, and reciprocal altruism connect us with the advance of civilization and culture. We can see an example of this in a revolutionary representation of "princess." This revised Princess ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91B4Vzj2Y4I ) is presented by Everyone Matters:  "Everyone Matters is a global Inclusiveness campaign with Sir Paul McCartney, Nicole Kidman, Ellen DeGeneres, Hugh Jackman, Daniel Craig, Natalie Portman, Tom Brokaw, Dame Judi Dench, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, leading organizations with a collective message to judge others less, see the humanity in everyone, and emphasize that everyone has the right to be who they are.  The Princess video works much like our Digital Media Project 2 because it offers a range of possibilities for enactments and meanings that blend across the universal/archetypal level into the local and the individual levels.  Our enactments of archetypes like "princess" offer opportunities for adapting and advancing culture and civilization. Our understanding of the feminine can radically change so that we are not constrained by oppressive practices or commercialization.  Change is now and eternal.  In order to participate wisely in the forward momentum of our lives, DMP2 offers a menu of options as we search for the truth of our traditions, arts, and science. We question:Where is home?   Who is my relation?   What is knowledge of divine? What is the meaning and enactment of the connection of self to universe?Let's apply this in Journal 7.  From your exploration of identity (DMP1), select a vital tradition (an archetypal expression in a local level of personal significance).  Give a few representations (in words and images) that show varied enactments of this tradition as influenced by art and by science.  Add samples from stories that provide narrative elaboration of these representations.  Inform the images with text from Boyd.
